About Glenoka B&B

Brian is the youngest of five children, born to pioneers, Clarence and Kae Adams (nee Snowdon). Clarence arrived, in the Okanagan, with his family from Manitoba in 1904 and Brian's Mother, in 1928. Raised on Glenoka, which at that time was an operating dairy farm, Brian completed his schooling locally and then at UBC, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in pre-med. His career, however, ended in law and he graduated from UBC Law School in 1973. Returning to Summerland in 1978 he assumed responsibility for Glenoka and practiced law in the area until his retirement in 2007.

Elsa's grandparents and Brian's parents and grandparents were Okanagan pioneers.

In 1969, his family grown, Elsa's Father traveled to Coober Pedy Australia to seek his fortune on the opal fields. Visiting him is how Elsa came to spend 31 years in Australia, 18 of those as the proprietor of a motel called the Underground Motel, as it was built into a sandstone hill. With the support of her three daughters and long standing staff, she learned to paint, patch, plumb and polish and to keep travelers from across Australia and beyond, comfortable and happy.

Now back in Canada, Elsa and Brian, having met years ago at the University of British Columbia (UBC), chose to spend their lives, in retirement, together. Glenoka Farm B&B is their joint project and away from the farm, Elsa is active in promoting the well-beiing of those of us older and elderly in our community.

Over the years, Brian has maintained Glenoka as a hobby farm, raising either sheep or cattle and plums and pears for market. He has updated the hundred-year old farmhouse and he and Elsa have now added the guest rooms. Brian and Elsa invite you to come and enjoy Glenoka Bed & Breakfast.
